Engineers to close canal towpath in Nantwich amid structure concerns

A section of Shropshire Union Canal in Nantwich is to be temporarily closed to walkers to allow for structural investigations.

The towpath will be closed and moorings suspended along the affected section for up to six weeks, the Canal & River Trust notice says.

Canal towpath in Nantwich to undergo £55,000 overhaul

A canal towpath in Nantwich is to undergo a major overhaul to improve access for the public.

Cheshire East Council says it is to spend £55,000 – from developer contributions – to improve the towpath near Queen’s Drive along the Shropshire Canal to prevent becoming too muddy for passers-by.
