Nantwich farm shop Cheerbrook has scooped 14 Gold medals at two prestigious food awards event.

The company, based on Newcastle Road, picked up 10 of them at the BPEX North West regional product evaluation event for butchers.

And they followed that achievement with another four awards at the English Winter Fair Pork Products competition.

Staff travelled to the BPEX event at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton with a selection of sausages, gammon, bacon, a ready meal and pork pies.

Young butcher Gareth Wood won Gold for his pork, roasted onion and sage sausage, while pie-maker Mark Cartlidge was awarded 98/100 for his traditional pork pie. His speciality honey and mustard piescored just one point less.

Cooked food manager Tracey Robinson scored a whopping 99/100 for her beef bourguignon.

Butchery manager Simon Roberts said: “These awards are the result of team work from everyone at Cheerbrook, the butchers who work behind the scenes and the kitchen and bakery staff who produce and then put the products in the shop.”

Mark gained 99/100 for his traditional pork pie at the English Winter Fair in Stafford.

Proud Cheerbrook owner Andrew Shufflebotham said: “It’s a great boost for the staff, and our customers are always delighted to share our success.

“We particularly enjoyed the festive atmosphere at the Winter Fair and our products could grace any Christmas table!”
