Three friends from a Nantwich village celebrated their 50th birthdays – by raising vital cash for a local Scout group.
Rick Carter, Ade Peever and Giles Semper teamed up to hold a joint party at The Swan Inn, in Wybunbury.
And the trio helped to raise £250 during the night to put towards the 28th South West Cheshire Scout Group, also based in the village.
Rick, a sports physiotherapist at West Bromwich Albion Football Club and managing director of CTC Physiotherapy, said the Scout movement has a special place in his and his wife Emily’s hearts.
They have seen their 14-year-old daughter flourish during her time in the group.
Emily said: “The Scouts do so much with the local children, hiking and bike riding and generally getting them out in the fresh air.
“They improved my daughter’s self-esteem and her confidence and she enjoyed feeling part of a group, so we wanted to give something back to them.”
Scout leader Victoria Wright said: “We are really grateful for every donation we receive and will put this money towards buying new equipment.
“We believe Scouting is all about “learning by doing” and that young people learn to think for themselves when they work in teams and are given responsibilities.”
Rick and Emily also thank the Wybunbury Tower Trust and staff at The Swan Inn.
