Nantwich Players latest production is the wonderful and thoughtful comedy ‘Entertaining Angels’, writes Claire Faulkner.
Written by Richard Everett and directed by Garth Jones, this production once again highlights the skill and dedication which The Players put into each play.
As a vicar’s wife ‘Grace’ has spent her entire life on her best behaviour, but after the sudden death of her husband she finds she can say and do exactly what she likes.
The arrival of her sister brings questions and a tangled web of historic lies and betrayal soon begins to un-weave.
There was lots of laughter from the audience on Monday (May 11), who clearly enjoyed the mix of comedy and tragedy.
‘Grace’ is superbly played by Virginia Meir, who seems to be on stage for the majority of the play.
Meir gives ‘Grace’ a wonderful voice, and delivers lines which we would probably all like to say if we were in her situation.
The cast worked very well together, ‘Sarah’ was played by Amber Edmondson.
‘Ruth’ was played by Carol Warr and ‘Jo’ by Laura Monkhouse.
Tom Brookes played ‘Bardy’, the vicar and husband with secrets.
‘Entertaining Angels’ is running at The Players Theatre until May 16.
Nantwich Players’ next production is ‘The Murder Room’ in July.
