A Nantwich “Full Monty” calendar made by 11 South Cheshire lads has raised a stunning £5,000 for charity.

Brothers Roy and Neil Aspinall persuaded their friends to put the calendar together a year ago, as revealed by Nantwichnews.

It was produced to raise funds for prostate cancer and the haematology transplant and oncology unit (HTU) at Christie’s in Manchester, where their close friend Tony Griggs was treated before his death.

An initial print run of 600 done by Nantwich-based RLH Print was sold out in days at £5 each.

Then a second print run of 400 sold out almost as fast.

Christie's Christmas calendarThey also held a final fundraising charity dance at Willaston Social Club, with local band Hex and The Shaun Stoddard Disco performed free of charge.

“We had a great night and the final total between the two charities was £5,100,” said Roy.

“We would like to thank all those who gave their time free of charge and everyone for donations gratefully received towards the two charities.”

Two cheques were  handed over to charity representatives at a presentation evening at Willaston Club on August 29.

Roy presented £2,550 to Liz Griggs, widow of Tony, on behalf of the HTU Unit at Christie’s.

Gary Steele MBE and Win Bond accepted the second £2,550 cheque on behalf of Prostate Cancer.

Fellow calendar boys Huw Lewis, who also did the photography, and Donald McDonald couldn’t attend the presentation.

There is a prostate testing session being held at Willaston Club on Monday 30th September 7pm-10pm sponsored by the Nantwich Monty Calendar lads donation.
