Pupils at Millfields Primary and Nursery in Nantwich had a ball when they celebrated the school’s 50th birthday with a party that crossed the generations.
Ex teachers Connie Jones, 78, and Angela Lloyd, 83, (pictured) joined youngest pupils Tia Smith and Isaac Knight in cutting a birthday cake.
And the choir and school band performed a medley of songs from the 1960s to an audience of former pupils, staff and teachers to mark the 50th birthday.
The school, on Marsh Lane, first opened in January 1964 but the official opening took place later that year.
Acting deputy headteacher Samantha Williams, who organised the day-long celebration, had put out an appeal for former teachers, pupils and support staff to get in touch to help them celebrate the half-century.
And she was delighted by the response: “We’re thrilled by the number of people who came along to help us celebrate including former catering staff, school crossing patrols, teachers, pupils, admin staff and also friends and family of people who worked here.”
Former headteacher Geoff Evans, who retired in 2006, also joined the celebrations, pictured with current head Andrew Ross.
Pupils created a display of photographs and memorabilia including school reports, artwork and trophies and gave their guests a guided tour of the school.
Celebrations continued the following day with the school’s 50th Anniversary Summer Fair.
Millfields Primary and Nursery has grown considerably since it first opened its doors with just 38 pupils.
It now has 248 children, aged three to 11, and is looking forward to its next 50 years.
