Cheshire East is to start looking for potential sponsors to run a new primary school proposed for a site at Basford, near Shavington.
The free school is due to open in September 2025 and will take children from new housing in the area, including the South Cheshire Growth Village.
A young orphaned otter cub found in a bin is now being nursed back to health by RSPCA staff in Nantwich.
RSPCA inspectors were called to rescue the cub which was found on Christmas Eve suffering from hypothermia.

Council tax payers across Cheshire could be asked to stump up more cash to help fund policing.
Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer has launched a survey seeking views of residents on raising the police precept – the component of Council Tax which helps fund Cheshire Constabulary – by 83p a month.
Police are hunting yobs who threw concrete blocks and bricks off a bridge over the A500 near Cheerbrook roundabout in Willaston.
They want witnesses to come forward who may have seen the potentially deadly acts between January 2 and 4.

Garden waste bins will not be collected anywhere in Cheshire East until next Monday at the earliest because of staff shortages.
And black and grey bin collections which were missed in some areas last week should be collected by the end of Wednesday January 5, staffing levels permitting.
A man from Nantwich who had a kilo of cocaine in the car he was driving has been jailed for five years for supplying drugs.
Thomas Conway was stopped by police on Brookhouse Road in Sandbach shortly before 5pm on Thursday September 9.
