READER’S LETTER: No justification for Cheshire East Council Tax rises

READER’S LETTER: No justification for Cheshire East Council Tax rises

Dear Editor,
There is no justification for Council tax increases this year.

But despite that, Crewe residents will have to pay an increased Council Tax to no less than all the four authorities they are obliged in law to pay…..and in most cases the increases are many times over the rate of inflation.

READER’S LETTER: Open letter from Covid-19 survivor from Wistaston

Dear Editor,
I am clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) after having my spleen removed in 2002, so I’m at a massively increased risk of infection.

In February last year I had to give up my job as a supply teacher and “shield”, which has meant that for over 12 months I have severed my outside contact.

READER’S LETTER: “Outrageous” still no CEC decision on winter gritting cuts

Dear Editor,
At this week’s Cheshire East Full Council meeting I asked, once again, if the Labour/Independent Cabinet had made up its mind regarding its proposal to axe winter gritting from some of our semi-rural and rural roads.

I did not support Cheshire East Council’s budget for the following reasons:

This budget is unkind, this budget is uncaring.

READER’S LETTER: Trade Bill vote by local MP “disgraceful”

Dear Editor,
Parliament has just voted to tie its own hands on future trade deals.

In a vote on the Trade Bill, MPs voted to drop an amendment that would have guaranteed them a vote on trade deals.

READER’S LETTER: Support us in National Heart Month in February

Dear Editor,

To mark National Heart Month this February, I’ve teamed up with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to call on the nation to do at least one thing to improve their heart health, while raising much-needed funds for the charity’s life saving work.

Cheshire Chief Constable Darren Martland

READER’S LETTER: Cheshire Police Chief Constable salary “unjustified”

Dear Editor,
Cheshire Police are advertising for yet another new Chief Constable.

The salary is £156,693 per year. Which is nearly as much as the Prime Minister is paid for doing TWO jobs, PM and MP.

Cllr Craig Browne

READER’S LETTER: CEC receives £1.26m…but must submit successful business case

Dear Editor,

At the Environment and Regeneration Overview and Scrutiny meeting on Monday 18th January 2021, I raised the point that Cllr Craig Browne mentioned at Cabinet last week that “The Transport Ministry has confirmed that CEC’s expression of interest to the (government) rural mobility fund has been successful”.

READER’S LETTER: RNIB offers free mental health sessions

Dear Editor,
2020 was a difficult year for everyone.

Though there is hope on the horizon, starting 2021 in lockdown is not how most people wanted to ring in the New Year.

READER’S LETTER: Profits of supermarkets should be reflected in workers’ pay

Dear Editor,
Last year was turbulent for most of us, but a lucrative one for supermarkets.

Sainsbury’s has already reported a 9.3 per cent rise in sales over Christmas and Morrisons is not far behind with an 8.5 per cent increase in what is expected to be a bumper trading period for supermarkets.
