Nantwich student’s show garden champions “grow your own”

An aspiring garden designer will celebrate his community allotment’s 100th birthday in his debut show garden at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.

Harry Dean, 19, a landscape architecture student at University Centre Reaseheath in Nantwich, will lead a team of 11 fellow vegetable growers from Over Allotments in Winsford on the garden build.

The closure of Cheshire East’s school meals service is causing “real distress” to some headteachers and one small school faces losing a full-time staff member.

The council’s children and families committee voted last month to close its loss-making school meals service next April, saying it could no longer afford to subsidise it to the tune of approximately £515,000.
