Council chiefs say food vouchers are available for families in Crewe and Nantwich struggling to afford to feed their children during the pandemic.
Their pledge comes as the row deepens over MPs rejecting a proposal to extend free school meals until Easter.
Crewe & Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan has defended his “no” vote on a proposal to extend free school meals until May 2021.
He was one of five out of six of Cheshire Conservative MPs who voted down a motion to extend free school meals to feed more than 1.4 million children during school breaks until Easter next year.
Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues across Crewe and Nantwich could receive monthly grants of up £2,100, the Chancellor has announced today.
Rishi Sunak says the additional funding has now been earmarked for businesses in “Tier 2” (High Risk) areas such as Cheshire East.

Cheshire East councillors have voted to freeze their allowances until May 2021 – but still receive a basic allowance of more than £12,000 each.

Eight care homes in Cheshire East are experiencing coronavirus outbreaks, councillors have been told.
The figure was revealed at CEC’s health and adults social care and communities scrutiny committee, where an “outbreak” is classed as “two or more related cases amongst staff and residents”.
A Nantwich Town councillor has pledged to get the Barony skate park re-opened or replaced.
The facility was shut down by Cheshire East Council last week, citing health and safety reasons.
