Letter sent to Nantwich Town Council.
I have examined the summary of the Capital and Revenue Budget for 2021/ 22 and would make the following general observations.

There is no justification for Council tax increases this year.
But despite that, Crewe residents will have to pay an increased Council Tax to no less than all the four authorities they are obliged in law to pay…..and in most cases the increases are many times over the rate of inflation.

Nantwich residents will have to pay 4.99% more Council Tax to Cheshire East Council from April after councillors approved a new budget for the upcoming year.
The budget, formally known as the Medium Term Financial Strategy, sets out the council’s tax and spending plans from 2021 to 2025.

Residents in Nantwich are set to pay nearly 5% more Council Tax in 2021/22 than they did this year.
Cheshire East Council has released its final draft of the authority’s Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS), which lays out the borough’s spending and tax plans from 2021-25.

Nantwich has the highest parish precept in Cheshire East = £122.66 for a Band D household.
This is going up by 42.5% for 2021/2022 = £52.13 = £174.79.
Cheshire Fire Authority has unveiled plans to raise its portion of Council tax by 1.99% for 2021-22.
The increase will result in a cost per year to £80.87 for a band D equivalent property. It currently stands at £79.29 per year for a band D property.
Cheshire East Council has launched a public consultation on a planned four-year budget from 2021-2025.
And the proposal sets out potential rising Council Tax and cuts as the authority says it faces major costs caused by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Nantwich residents will soon learn of any potential Council Tax rises as Cheshire East councillors look set to approve a timescale for unveiling its next budget.
Members will discuss the latest update of the borough’s Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) at this week’s cabinet meeting.
Nantwich residents face a 7.5% hike in their town council portion of the council tax bill – to help fund new initiatives like a new Town Ranger.
The authority also wants to increase council tax to bump up its reserves to a projected £193,000.
