Travellers were forcibly removed from Nantwich Cricket Club grounds by police after setting up a third unauthorised encampment in as many days in the area.

Police gave the travellers a Section 60C notice to leave the site by 10.30am this morning (July 12).

A councillor says he was “threatened” by angry men as took photos of an unauthorised encampment on The Vagrants in Willaston.

Cllr Allen Gage, Cheshire East for Willaston and Rope, said a number of men rounded on him when he was spotted taking pictures from a distance, one allegedly shouting “delete those, I’ll kill you”.

Yet, the authority has so far failed to provide any details of this cost when questioned by Nantwich News.
