Cheshire East Council is bidding to ditch some housing allocations from its Local Plan Strategy to prevent them swallowing up more green belt.
The move comes as the authority takes next steps to finalising the second part of its Local Plan Strategy.
Campaigners in Wistaston have pleaded with Cheshire East Council to create a new “Green Belt” to stop more green areas being lost to developers.
They say the interim findings of the planning inspector’s examination of the Local Plan are a “kick in the teeth” for villages like Wistaston.
Cheshire East councillors have voted through the final version of a new Local Plan Strategy which is to be sent to Government for endorsement. The Plan proposes a number of policies which impact on Nantwich and surrounding areas over the next 15 to 20 years.
Nantwich will be protected by new Green Belt land east and west of the town, and see 1,000 homes built near Reaseheath rather than Stapeley. That’s according to a draft Cheshire East Council strategy now ready for public consultation.
