Thousands poured into Nantwich to enjoy the Battle of Nantwich & Winter Fayre in the town centre and Mill Island.
And organisers The Holly Holy Day Society say the event, held in conjunction with the Sealed Knot society, was one of the most successful ever.
Cheshire East Council Leader Michael Jones today apologised to Nantwich residents caught up in the traffic chaos gripping the town.
Cllr Jones and Nantwich South and Stapeley Cllr Peter Groves told Nantwichnews they were “sorry” after a flood of complaints about roadworks causing massive delays on Holly Holy Day.

The annual event, this Saturday January 24, celebrates the Battle of Nantwich of 1644 – a key battle during the English Civil War.
A new exhibition called “Nantwich under Siege 1643-1644” is opening at the Community Gallery at Nantwich Museum.
It feature results of latest research looking at life in and around the town during the great siege.

Organisers of the “Battle of Nantwich” Holly Holy Day are confident it will go ahead despite more heavy rain. The event, which end with the re-enactment of the Roundheads v Cavaliers battle on Mill Island, is set to pull in thousands of visitors to the town tomorrow (January 25).
Scores of Nantwich youngsters will take part in a historical parade as part of the “Battle of Nantwich” Holly Holy Day event. Children aged from just two to 16 will be involved in the parade which sets off from Nantwich Museum.
This month’s Holly Holy Day “Battle of Nantwich” re-enactment is set to be the largest celebration yet, say organisers. The event, scheduled for Saturday January 25, includes the biggest programme of events than any other year.
Nantwich Museum is planning a series of events to help celebrate Holly Holy Day in the town on January 25. The venue has lined up speakers and exhibitions to commemorate the 370th anniversary of the Battle of Nantwich.
A Nantwich man’s new novel set in the town during the Civil War is to launch at Nantwich Bookshop later this month. David Wilson’s story, “The Winter Siege”, is set in Nantwich when Civil War raged through the country.
These stunning pictures by a Nantwich photographer are part of a new exhibition opening at nearby Tarporley Gallery. Jan Wilson has six pieces on show as part of the display which features other photographers and students from Tarporley High School.
Thousands braved the snow and ice to watch the annual “Battle of Nantwich” spectacular played out in the town. And this year, the town centre was packed with other activities to keep the crowds entertained before the march and battle re-enactment.
A Battle of Nantwich exhibition has opened in the Community Gallery at Nantwich Museum. And the display will whet the appetite for this weekend’s Holly Holy Day event – the re-enactment of the 1644 Battle of Nantwich.
