A bid to revive plans for new homes on a stretch of Shavington countryside has been rebuffed by councillors.

Keyworker Homes and the Guinness Partnership wanted to build 44 affordable homes in Newcastle Road – on land to the west of the Esso garage.

Councillors have allowed 21 homes to be built in a patch of Nantwich countryside because the site is now surrounded by a major housing estate.

Cheshire East Council’s southern planning committee gave the green light for the development at Fields Farm, off Queens Drive, at today’s (August 7) meeting.
