Villagers and councillors in Willaston have welcomed re-surfacing plans on two key roads.
Wistaston Road and Wybunbury Road, two main routes through the village, will undergo work to repair potholes and uneven surfaces.
More than £10 million of extra funding will help tackle pothole-ridden roads across Nantwich and Crewe.
Cheshire East Council has received it as part of a £54.5 million Government allocation to improve roads over the next six years to 2020/21.
Drivers in Nantwich are being urged to stay off the roads unless journeys are essential as snow grips the region again. Several centimetres fell across Cheshire overnight and continued this morning. Forecasters say it will return later today and tomorrow (March 23).
Work on damaged roads in and around Nantwich has been bolstered by a £2.3 million grant from the Government. The funding comes after Cheshire East councillors lobbied Ministers for more cash to repair highways badly damaged by freezing winters and floods.
Roads are re-opening in Nantwich following the huge blaze at a scrap metal yard on Alvaston Business Park this morning. The only road still closed is the westbound carriageway of the Nantwich bypass between Reaseheath and Sainsbury’s roundabout (as at 11.15am Oct 7).
