Cheshire East residents have volunteered 79 properties to accommodate one or more Ukrainian refugees fleeing the invasion of their country by Russia.
Around 200 Ukrainians are so far registered to come to the borough under the “Homes for Ukraine” Government scheme.
Volunteers and Nantwich Clinic have launched a fresh collection appeal for first aid and medical supplies for Ukrainian civilians and soldiers injured in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Supplies will be sent directly from Nantwich on Friday March 25 to Poland.

Cheshire East Council is working with the Home Office to offer places to live for Ukrainians seeking refuge following the invasion by Russia.
Council leader Sam Corcoran said the council has a “very good track record” of welcoming Syrian refugees, unaccompanied asylum seeking children and Afghan interpreters and their families and providing them with both temporary and permanent accommodation.

Banned football fans across Cheshire have been ordered to surrender their passports this week ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
Twenty-three fans who are subject of a football banning order must hand in their passports today or tomorrow as part of that order to prevent them from travelling to Russia.
