A plant which will turn food and green waste into compost is set to be built near Leighton Hospital after councillors gave it the go-ahead.
Biowise has been given planning permission to build the plant on land off Middlewich Road – just 1.3km away from the hospital, and 500m away from the nearest homes.
Residents in Nantwich are calling for action to make town centre stores tidy commercial waste and rubbish off the streets.
Many say not enough is being done and calls for a late night levy on commercial premises have re-surfaced.
Nantwich residents are being warned that household green waste is about to be suspended for the winter.
Cheshire East Council say the suspension between December 8 and February 13 (inclusive) will save taxpayers money.
Garden waste collections across Nantwich and Crewe are to be axed for four months to save money. But the move by Cheshire East Council has sparked anger from residents, according to local councillors.
