Two girls called Elizabeth from a Nantwich school will take centre stage for the lighting of a Queen’s Jubilee beacon in the town square.

The youngsters, of Pear Tree Primary School in Stapeley, will light a candle that will be handed to the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, David Briggs, who will then light the official beacon.

Local councillors and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson will attend the ceremony.

The beacon will be extinguished later so it can be relit at the official time of 10.26pm on June 3 by Nantwich mayor Graham Fenton.

To support the celebrations, Sainsbury’s Nantwich manager Pete Jones will present town councillor Penny Butterill and husband Doug, of Nantwich in Bloom, as official beacon oo-ordinators with a Beacon Party Pack.

Nantwich resident Claire Blackburn is an official Beacon coordinator and is holding a ‘Baddiley Beacon Bash’!

It’s not the first time the Blcakburn family has been officiab Beacon coordinators as they were participants in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Mr Jones said: “Sainsbury’s is delighted to contribute to the community’s Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

“Nationally, we are presenting these special party packs as well as food and drink discounts. In this way,we hope to enhance the Jubilee celebrations throughout the country.”
