Nantwich residents are being warned to secure property after three burglaries in surrounding villages on the same day.
Police believe the incidents, in Wrenbury, Tarporley and Brereton, could be linked.
All three happened while homeowners were out and burglars broke in through rear PVC windows.
A police spokeswoman said: “Untidy searches have been made and small item property has been stolen, with the exception of Wrenbury as it is believed the offenders were disturbed.
“With all three incidents occurring on the same day it may be travelling criminals involved.
“However it is worth advising residents to make efforts to minimise the risk of becoming a victim by taking steps to deter criminals.”
Police say householders should ensure their property’s security acts as a deterrent to any potential criminal.
“Half the value of security is its power as a deterrent.
“This is why someone might put up an empty burglar alarm box, or hang “beware of the dog” sign, despite only having a Golden Retriever puppy.
“When investing in security it is therefore important to make sure window locks, lights, burglar alarm bell box, all make their presence known.
“Householders in a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme should advertise the fact with stickers placed in the windows facing the road.”
Burglars also look out for a house that appears empty and look for telltale signs such as drawn curtains during the day, no lights after dark, post left piling up by the door, and full milk bottles left outside.
Householders could leave the radio and the lights on when they are out, or ask a neighbour to pick up post when they are away on holiday.
