plays - Nantwich Players Theatre - The Witches

By Claire Faulkner
The joy of watching Curtain Call Productions  is you know you’re going to get first class choreography and a top performance.

“Stepping Out” at Nantwich Players theatre delivers that and much more.

Jo Chapman plays ‘Mavis’, a professional dancer who is now teaching, and having to deal with eight very different characters in her class.

She is obviously a natural on stage and delivers two great tap routines during the show.

The play centres on the relationships the characters form with each other, and how the opportunity to take part in an evening class and a local charity show gives them more than just a new hobby.

Some of my favourite moments of the show come from Jenny Hall, who plays ‘Mrs Fraser’, the pianist who religiously supports ‘Mavis’ and her pupils.

The cast worked incredibly well together. I can only imagine how many rehearsals and how difficult it must be to learn all of the dance routines they performed.

Other cast members to watch out for include Matt O’Donnell as the shy and retiring ‘Geoffrey’ and Lorna Hutton as the larger than life ‘Rose’.

‘Stepping Out’ is a feel good show, and great to see at this time of the year. If you go and watch this, you’ll leave in a great mood and wishing you had learnt to dance.

It is being performed at The Players Theatre on Love Lane between December 18 and 21.
