A man who died when his car crashed into a lamp-post on Waterlode in Nantwich has been named as Peter Egan.

Mr Egan, 64, from Tarvin, near Chester, was driving along Waterlode when his vehicle lost control and careered into the lamp-post.

Housing developer Wainhomes has lost an appeal to build 104 homes on green land off Audlem Road in Nantwich.

The developer, who already have permission for around 40 houses on a field behind Brine Leas School, had the initial larger proposal rejected by Cheshire East Council in November last year.
