A Nantwich woman has turned her love for art and birds into a new venture.
And Sarah Capper’s Doodlelicious business is already attracting the attention of national organisations like the RSPB and National Trust.
Sarah, who lives in Wrenbury, attended Brine Leas and then studied A levels at Malbank School, including Art.
She went on to West Cheshire College for an Art Foundation course and then Nottingham Trent University for a degree in Textiles Design, specialising in couture embroidery.
The 43-year-old said: “I’ve always loved doodling and started up my Facebook page four years ago after sitting in the garden and drawing a primrose after a long period of not drawing anything.
“Now I can’t stop! And I have more than 12,000 followers globally.
“I take my inspiration from pattern and colour found in nature and alter the scale of the pattern in my illustrations to depict depth and shadow.
“I love drawing British birds and I have been contacted by the RSPB and National Trust who will soon be taking on my range of British Bird Greeting cards.”
Sarah’s Marigold the Cow is proving a real hit with the Cheshire Farmers too, and are being stocked by farm shops around the country.
It sells well as a greeting card or a print.
Local stores also sell her cards, including Magpie Cards in Nantwich, Flower Diva’s in Audlem, and Nettle in Tarporley.
Then in February she exhibited at the NEC Spring Fair, and her work was noticed by officials from the RSPB.
“Exhibiting at the NEC was definitely the spring board I needed,” she added.
“I also sell a lot of my hummingbird collection into the USA.
“I hope to be taking my illustrations into textiles and pottery very soon.”
Sarah is currently working in the Textile Industry alongside her illustration work.
