A Nantwich mum has landed a dream new career in sports massage – by teaming up with her former student’s business!
Amanda Kimber, a sports massage student at South Cheshire College, has joined forces with Lee Wilkinson to expand his successful company, LW Sports Therapy.
Amanda, 35, decided to return to her studies after having three children – and her hard work paid off when she landed her first job while in her final stages of her qualification.
The qualified psychologist, who is a keen runner and lover of yoga, is no stranger to hard work and has always had a passion for sport.
“I’m returning to work after having three children and am absolutely over the moon to have landed this role and be working alongside Lee,” she said.
“I know I’ll learn a great deal and am really excited for the future.
“I’ve always been an avid sports lover so sports therapy seemed a logical area in which to pursue a career.
“South Cheshire College has been really supportive, the course has been great and I’m really grateful to them for all their help.”
Amanda’s role at LW Sports Therapy will see her assisting clients with sports injury prevention, body awareness, muscle stress reduction and general well-being enhancement.
She added: “I’ve worked a lot with runners and cyclists while studying at South Cheshire College so this has been a valuable platform to develop my experience whilst I’ve been studying.
“I’ve also worked with South Cheshire Harriers and Crewe Alexandra FC 1st team, which has given me fantastic exposure to various disciplines.”
Fiona Notman, Sports Massage tutor at South Cheshire College said: “It’s no surprise that Amanda has already secured a career in this exciting industry. Her dedication and commitment is second to none.”
Lee established LW Sports Therapy following his studies at South Cheshire College in sports massage.
“Lee has always shown a strong commitment to the industry. We are all immensely proud of what he has achieved at South Cheshire College and are delighted that Amanda will now be joining Lee on this successful journey,” Fiona added.
“Together, Lee and Amanda are 100% committed to help athletes push on and continue to enjoy sports injury free.
“We wish them every success for the future.”
The next Sports Massage course starts in September 2017.
