Nantwich Town defeated Welsh side Rhyl FC in a keenly fought pre-season encounter at the Weaver Stadium.
Huws Gray Alliance side Rhyl took the lead in the 34th minute thanks to a strike by Chris Durkin.
The visitors, managed by father and son team Laurie and Niall McGuinness, proved a strong test for the Dabbers.
But Nantwich manager Dave Cooke’s half time talk helped rally his troops and the Dabbers came out firing after the break.
Cooke said his players had been caught dwelling on the ball too often in the first period.
And they began to move the ball quickly and not overplay at the back in the second half.
It paid dividends as the Dabbers took control and it could have been a greater scoreline at the end.
Keiran Evans had levelled for Nantwich before half-time, and it was in-form striker Jordan Davies who gave the hosts the lead on 63 minutes.
And in the 78th minute, trialist Thorbes sealed the win for Nantwich.
The Dabbers move on to play Sandbach United away this Saturday July 29, kick off 3pm.
