Elle Morris, 10 wishes, going to Santaland

A fund-raising tea party is being staged in Stapeley to raise funds for double lung transplant youngster Elle Morris’ post surgery treatment.

Elle, 11, from Wrenbury, who starts Brine Leas School in Nantwich this week, had the transplant six months ago.

Since then, she and her mum Becky have had to return to Great Ormond Street Hospital almost every week for follow up treatment.

And she is about to undergo more surgery on September 8 to rebuild some of her ribcage which corroded due to the major surgery. It will mean another two or three weeks in hospital.

Friends are now planning to stage an Afternoon Tea Party at Stapeley Community Hall on Saturday September 16 to help raise funds for her family to cover the ongoing hospital visits and treatments.

There will be a range of quality sandwiches, scones, cakes, tea, coffee and even Prosecco on offer at the event, which will run from 3.30pm to 6pm.

The Elle’s Wishes campaign posted: “It has been confirmed Elle’s surgery date will take place on Friday September 8 to have part of her ribs removed and her sternum reconstructed at Great Ormond Street hospital!

“We travel down on Thursday for Elle to be admitted and for assessment.

“She will be able to start High school at Brine Leas on Wednesday to have a taster day and share the same experience of her first day with other year 7 pupils on Wednesday before it takes place.

“And then let’s hope she can get better ready to start getting fitter and enjoying her new lungs.”
