A man has been found seriously injured outside a pub in Audlem, police say.
The 45-year-old was found at around 1am today (May 25) when officers were called to reports of an incident outside the Bridge Inn, Shropshire Street, Audlem.
Officers attended the scene and a 45-year-old man was found with serious injuries.
The man was taken to the Royal Stoke hospital where his condition is described as critical.
An investigation into how the man sustained the injuries is currently ongoing.
Detective Inspector Sarah Oliver said: “At this stage it’s not clear whether the man has sustained the injuries as the result of an assault or whether he has been involved in a collision and our enquiries are ongoing in the local area to try and establish exactly what has happened.
“Officers remain in the local area and I would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation.”
Shropshire Road, A525, is currently closed in both directions from Green Street to Stafford Street.
