Nantwich CC produced a stunning display to out-play Bath and reach the national club semi-finals.
A stunning 124 not out by Luke Robinson helped Nantwich to a nine-wicket national quarter-final victory at Whitehouse Lane yesterday (August 11).
It means they will host the National Club Championship semi-final in September, with a chance to reach the final at Lord’s later that month.
Bath made 196 all out from their 40 overs, with Jimmy Warrington (2 for 39), Mitchell Spencer (3 for 44) and Oliver Griffiths (2 for 10) leading the attack.
Opener Ben Ackland carried his bat for Bath, finishing on 77 not out as he ran out of partners quickly.
In reply, Nantwich’s Steve Rimmer set the tone with a quick-fire 17 off 22 balls before falling to Adam Kelly.
Then it was the Robinson show who came to the crease to join Henry Dobson.
Robinson smashed 124 from 85 balls, including ten 4s and seven 6s. Dobson ably supported, making 53 form 107 balls.
Nantwich reached their winning target in 35.4 overs.
They are now due to host the winners of Richmondshire and Ormskirk CC on September 1, whose quarter-final was abandoned yesterday due to heavy rain and will need to be re-scheduled.
Nantwich pace bowler Warrington said after: “What a day! Last 4 in the country….. national semi finalists!
“Special thank you to all the help from everyone with the ground.”
