Nantwich Town made it two wins from two to open their 2019-20 campaign with a fine victory away at Buxton.
It was a very rare three points at tough opponents thanks to goals by Caspar Hughes and Sean Cooke.
Nantwich are in third place in Bet Victor Northern Premier Division, one of four teams to have won their opening two games.
Hughes gave Nantwich the lead in the first half on 24 minutes.
Great play by Nantwich found Devine down the left and his cross landed nicely for Hughes on the edge of the box who finished powerfully or 1-0.
It was deserved on the run of play as the visitors had made a number of chances early on.
The Dabbers continued to counter effectively before the break as the hosts looked to build pressure for a leveller.
Joe Mwasile wasted a fine opportunity as he was put through by James Lawrie but he couldn’t convert.
After the break, Nantwich were quickly in their stride and doubled their lead on 52 minutes.
A corner was lofted in, Buxton struggled to clear their lines and Sean Cooke latched on to it to fire home.
Nantwich defended well, but the hosts found a way back into the game on 80 minutes.
A really good cross by Brad Roscoe was headed home by Callum Chippendale.
It set up a grandstand finish as Buxton looked for an equaliser, and Nantwich keeper Hall was called into action on more than one occasion in the final few minutes.
The Dabbers were due to face another tough road trip this Saturday August 24 away at Stalybridge Celtic, however this game has now been rescheduled to October due to Stalybridge playing a preliminary FA Cup qualifying match.
