Councillors’ anger as CEC refuses to reveal car park income

Cheshire East Council is refusing to discuss in public how much it spends on individual car parks and how much income it receives from them.

The council, which says it is ‘open and fair’ in its corporate plan, was asked by two members of its own highways and transport committee for a breakdown on the car parks.

Plans for up to 29 holiday lodges at a marina site near Nantwich have been recommended for approval.

Church Minshull Aqueduct Marina Limited wants to change the use of agricultural land so the lodges and a manager’s cabin can be provided on the site, which is on the Middlewich branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

Cheshire firefighters have teamed up with others across the UK to deliver vital firefighting equipment to Ukraine.

A total of 30 fire and rescue vehicles, along with more than 15,000 pieces of essential equipment, are being donated by UK fire and rescue services in partnership with charity FIRE AID and the National Fire Chiefs Council.

Massive solar farm plan near Nantwich given council go ahead

Plans for a solar farm near Nantwich which could supply energy to more than 6,500 homes a year have been unanimously approved.

Noventum Power Ltd wants to construct and operate the solar farm on a 17.5-hectare site in the open countryside at Hatherton Lodge Farm, off Hunsterson Road.

The nightmare is finally over for hundreds of residents who have been living on a South Cheshire housing estate with no planning permission because of massive failings by Cheshire East Council and developer Countryside Partnerships.

Countryside was given permission to build the 263-home Coppenhall Place on the former Bombardier site in Crewe in 2018.
