A memorial is to be erected in honour of six men killed while disarming German bombs in a field near Nantwich. The men, from the Royal Engineers, had safely disarmed three of the bombs found close to Alvaston Hall, Nantwich.
By Claire Faulkner Popular TV vet Steve Leonard gave a talk at Nantwich Museum about the plight of the orang-utans. Steve (pictured, centre), has experience of working with the animals in Borneo and spoke about the importance of conservation in protecting them.
The Oxfam Bookshop in Nantwich has received an impressive £3,000 in donations for the Oxfam East Africa Appeal at the shop at 21 Pepper Street. And donations have ranged from large cheques to a small child bringing in her piggy-bank to the shop.

Exclusive Doctors are probing a suspected human case of the potentially deadly disease leptospirosis, thought to have been contracted in the River Weaver in Nantwich. It’s believed a patient in intensive care at Leighton Hospital has displayed symptoms of the condition, also known as Weil’s Disease.
