Massive solar farm plans near Nantwich set for approval

Plans for a solar farm near Nantwich which could supply energy to more than 6,500 homes a year have been recommended for approval.

Noventum Power Ltd wants to construct and operate the solar farm on a 17.5-hectare site in the open countryside at Hatherton Lodge Farm, off Hunsterson Road.

The former leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Cheshire East Council has quit the party and become the first Reform UK member on the council.

Cllr Reg Kain, elected to Cheshire East Council in May 2023, said he had joined Reform UK “because I believe it is the only mainstream party at this time that is genuinely listening to the concerns and needs of the British people”.

Cheshire East Council has refuted claims it has the most potholes waiting to be repaired than any other borough in England.

National newspapers carried reports this week that the authority had 17,197 potholes to repair, based on a study of reports on Fix My Street website.
