Councillor Janet Clowes is stepping down as leader of the Conservative group on Cheshire East Council due to ill health.

The Wybunbury councillor was rushed to hospital last month after she collapsed and was unconscious for some time.

Prolific sex offender, 81, formerly of Audlem jailed for 46 years

A prolific sex offender formerly of Audlem who spent almost 30 years “living in paradise” has finally been jailed.

Richard Burrows was sentenced at Chester Crown Court today (April 30) to a total of 46 years in prison and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

Plans for up to 29 holiday lodges at a marina site near Nantwich have been recommended for approval.

Church Minshull Aqueduct Marina Limited wants to change the use of agricultural land so the lodges and a manager’s cabin can be provided on the site, which is on the Middlewich branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

Alastair McMullan, of Bridge Close, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court to be sentenced after admitting to three counts of harassment without violence, stalking, and sending offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing messages.

Plans for a solar farm near Nantwich which could supply energy to more than 6,500 homes a year have been unanimously approved.

Noventum Power Ltd wants to construct and operate the solar farm on a 17.5-hectare site in the open countryside at Hatherton Lodge Farm, off Hunsterson Road.
