By Claire Faulkner Nantwich Town Square was packed as visitors enjoyed the first “Societies Spectacular” in summer sunshine. The event, organised by Cllr Stuart Hutton, introduced people to the range of clubs, organisations and societies in the town.
Nantwich Litter Group is planning further blitzes on rubbish as the town prepares to welcome Britain in Bloom judges. The tean held its latest “Group Pick” in the Barony Park area, led by team leader Joyce Webb.
“Tudor Inventories” is the final one of four themed talks of the “Nantwich under the two Elizabeths” exhibition running at Nantwich Museum. The talk, by Andrew Lamberton, considers some 18 inventories of Nantwich people from the reign of Elizabeth I.
Nantwich Show organisers said all efforts are now focused on making The International Cheese Awards as big a success as possible. Secretary Adrian Lawrence confirmed they had to cancel the rest of Nantwich Show because of saturated ground conditions at Dorfold Park.
Organisers of the biggest annual events in Nantwich have called off the event because of the wet weather. Nantwich Show will not go ahead as planned on July 25 as Dorfold Park is waterlogged, with forecasts predicting more rain over the next 10 days.
An event to raise awareness among residents of local societies will be staged in Nantwich Town Square on July 21. The ‘Societies Spectacular’ will see around 30 clubs and groups giving displays and demonstrations in the town square.
“Are we better off than the Tudors?” is the second in a series of four themed talks at Nantwich Museum. The series forms part of the “Nantwich under the two Elizabeths” exhibition at the Pillory Street venue.
Aqueduct Marina near Nantwich is to stage a charity fun day and open day. A host of entertainment is planned for the event on July 22 at the marina on the B5074 between Worleston and Church Minshull.
Plans a for controversial 600-home development in Stapeley, Nantwich, will come under the spotlight again next week. And now updated “Nantwich South” proposals include a new village school to cater for hundreds more families.
Nantwich is to host a competition to crown Britain’s champion Town Crier. Criers from across the country will descend on the town to compete for the coveted Town Crier Shield on Saturday July 28.
Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre bosses have urged people not to bring pets to an annual fun day after the mystery death of four foxes. Tests are being carried out but the cause has not been established prior to tomorrow’s (July 1) fun day at the Nantwich RSPCA centre.
Nantwich Litter Group will be holding a “Group Pick” on Tuesday July 3 on Barony Park. Volunteers are asked to meet at 10am in the car park on Barony Road and make a clean sweep around the area.
Nantwich Transport Festival pulled in the car fans when it was staged at Nantwich Town’s Weaver Stadium. The festival was due to be held at Barony Park but had to be switched because the park was waterlogged.
