Set in 2005 when Royal Ascot was staged at York, Ladies Day tells the story of four factory work colleagues and how a day at the races changes their lives forever.

Opera fans packed in to St Mary’s Church to watch Nantwich Choral Society’s Gala Concert.

John Naylor, musical director, gave a brief explanation of Gilbert and Sullivan’s first international hit, the comic opera H.M.S. Pinafore, before the choir burst forth with two musical numbers followed by a solo from Baritone Richard Suart.

A concert which united choirs and bands at St Mary’s Church in Nantwich has helped raise vital funds for the Mayor’s chosen charities.

Groups including Simply Allsorts and Simple Harmony Choirs, together with Singcopation, and a cappella group, reunited for the Encore Concert, with Cheshire Constabulary Brass Band and Drum Corps.
