Organisers of this weekend’s Nantwich Christmas Lights switch on are urging families to get to town early. Thousands are expected to pack the town centre for the festive event which starts at 5.30pm in the town square.
Crewe and Nantwich Ramblers enjoyed a trip to Llangollen in Wales where they tackled the Berwyn Range and Horseshoe Pass. Members started from Berwyn and climbed steadily up Maesyrychen Mountain to the Berwyn Quarry.
By Jonathan White A charity fundraising evening concert at Brine Leas School in Nantwich helped to raise more than £660. More than 200 people watched group and solo performances by The Co-operative Junior & Beginner Wind Bands and Willaston Primary School.
Live comedy comes to Nantwich for the final time in 2013 with another “Very Best in Stand Up” show. Liverpool comedian Jamie Sutherland will be compering the Nantwich Civic Hall show on Friday December 6.
Staff and visitors at a marina near Nantwich have helped to raise more than £1,000 for charities. Aqueduct Marina, at Church Minshull, has staged a number of events to raise the cash in the marina café and reception area.
Nantwich Library will be hosting the National Careers Service Roadshow this Thursday, November 21. The National Careers Service, based throughout Cheshire, is free and available to customers aged 18 or over, both employed or unemployed.
The Nantwich Singers will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten with a concert at St Mary’s Church. They will be performing works by the celebrated English composer and also Henry Purcell this Saturday November 23.
The Greyhound Rescue West of England group will be holding its annual Christmas Fair at Nantwich Civic Hall this weekend. The event takes place on Saturday November 23 from 10am to 4pm.
Christmas has come early in Nantwich after 40 advertising hoardings promoting the town’s traders were unveiled. The boards, which also promote the November 30 Christmas lights switch on, are a joint project by Nantwich Town Council and local businesses.
Fans of live music and comedy are in for a treat this week with an array of shows at Lyceum Theatre in Crewe. The Rocky Horror Murder Show takes place at the Lyceum on Wednesday (November 20) from 7.30pm.
A new group called Cheshire Walking aimed at all ages and abilities is to meet for the first time in Nantwich. The group will be getting together at The Vine pub on Hospital Street, Nantwich, on November 22.
