Crewe & Nantwich MP Dr Kieran Mullan MP has vowed to “work as hard as I can” to support the 1,000 Bentley Motors workers set to lose their jobs.
He reacted to the news today that the Crewe car maker has launched a “voluntary release programme” in a bid to reduce its workforce by 1,000.
Bentley Motors said today an “urgent reduction in the workforce” was needed for the South Cheshire car maker to survive in the future.
It comes as one of the region’s biggest employers confirmed plans to lose up to 1,000 workers.
Residents in South Cheshire are being warned to be vigilant following a 22% rise in fraud offences since lockdown began.
Cheshire Police are investigating a variety of fraud offences reported including online shopping scams, fraudulent emails, hoax text messages, cold callers and even fraudulent pet sales.
Bentley Motors in Crewe are planning to let up to 1,000 workers go from the South Cheshire plant, according to unconfirmed reports tonight.
ITV are reporting that the car plant’s 4,200 staff will be briefed tomorrow (June 5) on a “voluntary release program”.
