Leighton Hospital chiefs have submitted a planning application to Cheshire East Council to build an electrical substation on land just off Flowers Lane in Crewe.
The proposed substation will provide power to the site of the planned new hospital, located to the north of the existing Leighton Hospital.

Three planning applications for a total of 808 homes near Leighton Hospital have been recommended for approval.
Each scheme relates to parcels of land off Minshull New Road and Flowers Lane close to the hospital in Crewe.

I managed to get some action following a complaint from a resident.
I wrote to Cheshire East Highways: “Flowers Lane, near Leighton Hospital is now closed, so could the traffic light for Flowers Lane be turned off to help traffic flow? Cars are taking ages to get through.”
Flowers Lane near Leighton Hospital is to close for 22 weeks from Monday June 26.
It’s the next phase of the ongoing North West Crewe Package of works which has seen a section of the A530 Middlewich Road by the hospital closed since April.
The busy A530 between Nantwich and Middlewich is set for a further nine-week closure from April 18.
Drivers are being warned to find alternative routes with the closure at the junction with Flowers Lane to allow construction on to the new roundabout.
