Vetting procedures for police recruits in Cheshire have been tightened since a serving officer was jailed for raping a 13-year-old girl, the force’s commissioner has said.
PC Ian Naude, who was then 30, was jailed for 25 years in 2018 for raping the teenager and for four convictions relating to sexual offences against other children.
A nursery in Nantwich has been classed as “Outstanding” in its latest inspection by Ofsted.
La Maternelle, based on Barony Court in Nantwich, was visited by inspectors on October 17.
Cheshire College – South & West’s on-campus nursery ‘Starting Point’ has been awarded “Outstanding” status by Ofted.
The nursery, on the Crewe campus, was inspected in August and staff are “overwhelmed” to have maintained their Outstanding rating.
Brine Leas School in Nantwich has maintained its “good” rating after the latest Ofsted inspection.
Inspectors visited the Audlem Road school in May.
Millfields Primary School in Nantwich has been hailed as a “very special place” by Ofsted during a recent inspection.
The school and nursey, off Marsh Lane, was given an overall “Good” rating after the inspection visited in January.
Bunbury Aldersey CE Primary school has been rated as “good” by Ofsted in its first inspection since becoming part of the Rural Church Schools Academy Trust in 2017.
The school, inspected in January under the new Ofsted framework, was rated outstanding in three out of the five categories.
Cheshire College – South & West has been rated “Good” in its latest Ofsted inspection.
It was the first full inspection since South Cheshire College and West Cheshire College merged in March 2017.

Work is under way to improve services for youngsters with special educational needs (SEN) in Cheshire East following a damning inspection last year.
Cheshire East Council and local NHS providers were criticised following a joint inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Ofsted last March – with inspectors hitting out at ‘serious weaknesses’ in provision.

Councillors have welcomed an Ofsted report which has praised Cheshire East’s children’s social care service, writes Stephen Topping.
Inspectors highlighted the way social workers knew the children they were helping and how frequently they visited them, following a visit to the local authority on October 30 and 31.
