Nantwich schools benefit from £1 million Cheshire East grant boost

Schools in and around Nantwich will benefit from an extra £1 million buildings grant awarded to Cheshire East Council.

Nineteen schools and children centres have been successful in securing extra funding, including Millfields Primary, Audlem St James, Malbank High and Nantwich and Rural Children’s Centre.

Students at Malbank School and Sixth Form College in Nantwich showed off their culinary skills when they hosted a Ready, Steady, Cook fun food event.

The group worked with the school’s caterers Chartwells, who are part of the Compass Group and who have won a number of school catering contracts in Cheshire East.

Malbank students take Gruffalo performance to Nantwich primary schools

Sixth form students in Nantwich have been getting in role to support local primary schools by staging their adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s “The Gruffalo”.

This version, which was performed by Malbank students at Highfields Academy in Nantwich, focuses on storytelling as students imaginatively use sheets to create the Gruffalo and perform the tale with a twist.

Cllr Michael Stanley was born in Crewe to a family that ran a number of pubs in Crewe from the 1970s to the late 1990s.

A Willaston family who’s daughter died from a heart defect aged just 22, are to stage a fund-raising Fashion Show in her memory to try and save other lives.

Funds raised will go towards the Ceri Palmer (nee Howells) Memorial Fund and help pay for heart screenings of young people.

A school bus service taking pupils from Willaston to Malbank in Nantwich is to be axed – despite vociferous protests by parents, teachers and councillors.

Cheshire East Council’s cabinet has upheld a previous decision to bring in a ‘walking route’ instead – which will take Willaston pupils over the London Road level crossing (pictured).
