Covid cases have started to rise again among schoolchildren in Cheshire East but the numbers are significantly lower than a few weeks ago.
And some schools are continuing to urge pupils to wear face coverings in classrooms, corridors and other communal areas.
Police, council and health bosses across Cheshire today urged residents to be “responsible” as “Freedom Day” marks the final easing of lockdown restrictions.
They say cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant of Covid-19 are continuing to rise across Cheshire East, with 1,222 more cases in week up to July 8.
Health chiefs in Cheshire East have appealed for more residents to self test for Covid after containing a cluster of cases in the borough.
They say a recent outbreak in the Handforth area has highlighted the part local residents can play in fighting the virus through regular symptom-free testing.
Cheshire East Council’s “Swab Squad” is piloting a new rapid testing service across the borough.
The “Swab Squad” is a team which aims to support residents and local business with Covid-19 testing.
