Crewe and Nantwich MP Connor Naismith says he has written to the Chancellor and Transport Secretary to lobby for Crewe to be a key stop on any proposed new rail line.
The letter forms part of Mr Naismith’s “#ConnectCrewe” campaign, which aims to highlight its role in the UK’s transport infrastructure and economic impact of including the town in plans for an HS2 replacement line.

This proposal for a new rail line through Cheshire feels like an attempt to revive the failed and unwanted HS2 project under a different name.
Cheshire residents have already spent years opposing HS2, which was cancelled due to escalating costs, significant disruption, and a lack of meaningful benefits to local communities.
South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce has hailed “exciting” plans for a new rail route connecting the Northwest and Midlands.
The Chamber has announced support for the Mayors of Greater Manchester and West Midlands in their bid for a new line connecting the two regions.
