Cheshire East Council is paying £3,000 more per pupil than most equivalent councils to transport some children to school each year.
This includes paying on average £71 for a 10-mile taxi journey or £118 for a 20-mile journey – way above the expected £21 or £41 costs respectively.
Staff at Millfields Primary School in Nantwich are appealing to local businesses to help breathe life into their classroom topics.
The school says it struggling to hire coaches to take children on visits following the closure of a local transport company and the increase of fuel prices.

Cheshire East Council spends more than £230,000 a week on taxis taking children to and from school.
Figures obtained by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) through Freedom of Information (FOI) reveal the council pays for 887 children to go to school by taxi at an approximate cost of £231,959.67 per week.
Cheshire East Council has drawn up what it says are “ambitious plans” to transform bus services across the borough.
It hopes the Cheshire East Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) will boost the number of people using buses, which has fallen 24% in the past decade.

Cheshire East is in the bottom 10 local authority areas for people using buses and the council is looking at ways to improve this.
The figure was revealed at a highways and transport committee meeting this week when councillors were discussing the national bus strategy (NBS).
Cheshire East Council is to scrap its transport company Transport Service Solutions (TSS) and bring its delivery back in-house.
The move follows “an extensive review” of each of the authority’s wholly-owned companies.

Nantwich residents can air their views on local transport and parking plans unveiled for the town.
