St Bartholomew’s Church in Church Minshull is hosting a music concert in aid of Ukrainian refugees tonight (July 2).

Cheshire East says the Homes for Ukraine Scheme has been successful but some refugees have been re-matched with new sponsors because of failed safeguarding checks or relationship breakdowns.

Dan Coyne, operational lead at Cheshire East for the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, said the council had so far inspected 139 of the 204 homes offered in the borough.

Latest available figures released by Cheshire East Council – up to May 4 – show the number of residents who applied for the Homes for Ukraine Scheme increased by 33% in a week.

Sixty-two Ukrainian refugees are now living in Cheshire East with residents who have welcomed them into their homes and another 316 have applied for visas.
