Pupils and staff at Calveley Primary Academy commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a vibrant street party celebration held on the school field.
Under glorious sunshine, the school community came together to mark the historical occasion.

Crowds looked on respectfully as poignant speeches were made and 1940s songs sung as Union flags and bunting fluttered in the pleasant spring evening.

The South Cheshire Concert Band will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a special ’80th VE Celebration Concert’ on Friday (May 9).
The concert will take place at Wistaston Memorial Hall, on Church Lane, from 7.30pm.
Nantwich Museum is staging a special exhibition this week to mark the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

It will start with a Proclamation at 9.00am, read by Joe O’Leary and Jake Johns of Nantwich branch of Royal British Legion.

Everyone is welcome to attend a drop in event at the museum celebrating Victory in Europe Day on May 8 when there will be themed refreshments in the Millennium Gallery from 10am and 4pm.
Nantwich Museum is planning an exhibition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of both VE Day on May 8 and VJ Day on August 15.
