Nantwich Museum is staging a special exhibition this week to mark the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

VE Day was declared on May 8th 1945, the day after Germany surrendered unconditionally marking the end of World War Two in the west.

A Nantwich pensioner has urged the town to get behind VE Day celebrations this week as he shares memories of his five uncles who fought in the war.

One by one the Horton brothers of Welsh Row, Nantwich – Stephen, Jim, Tom, Frank and Harry – were called to serve their country. All were in their 20s.

The town will be marking VE Day 80 in Nantwich with a series of moving events and speeches on May 8 2025.

It will start with a Proclamation at 9.00am, read by Joe O’Leary and Jake Johns of Nantwich branch of Royal British Legion.

Nantwich Museum to turn clock back for VE Day anniversary

Nantwich Museum is turning back the clock to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Everyone is welcome to attend a drop in event at the museum celebrating Victory in Europe Day on May 8 when there will be themed refreshments in the Millennium Gallery from 10am and 4pm.
