The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was celebrated at Richmond Village Nantwich when residents, guests and staff held a street party.
More than 100 people dressed in red white, and blue with The Cat Radio and award-winning Foden’s Brass Band providing the music.
“The Floral Dance” and “The Sailor’s Hornpipe” were enjoyed by all, but it was the rousing rendition of “Rule Britannia” that had everyone singing and waving their flags.
Mr Foden, grandson of the founder of Foden’s Brass Band and a resident at Richmond Village, was joined by family and friends and thanked the band on everyone’s behalf to cheers and loud applause.
A traditional afternoon tea was served while Debbie Mercandelli, hospitality manager and British Care Award winner, made jugs of Pimms.
A Union Jack cake, made by head chef Steve Monks, took pride of place while a large Union Jack themed hamper, provided by Sainsbury’s in Nantwich, was raffled and raised over £120 for the Princes Trust.
Hilary Minshull, care home manager, said: “We have all had an amazing time – the whole day has been wonderful.
“We started early in the morning to ensure everything was in place for a really fantastic party and that is exactly what we all had.
“We would especially like to thank Cat Radio and Foden’s Band, whose performance on the afternoon was so kindly donated by Mr Foden, and who made the whole atmosphere so special.”
Errol Lochhead, resident of Richmond Village, said: “Everyone obviously worked really hard to make it such a success.
“We have all had the most wonderful time and are delighted we were able to join the celebrations in this way.”
