A new Marston’s pub looks set to be built on a green field site next to Nantwich bypass.
Marston’s Inns & Taverns have revealed plans to build a pub-restaurant on land next to Alvaston Business Park by the A530-A51 bypass roundabout.
The proposal is to build a new 150-seater premises along with a 59-space car park.
There will also be a pub beer garden and children’s play area on land between the southern side and the bypass.
The plans will also include a manager’s flat.
Access to the new pub would be from the business park access road.
The proposals were discussed at Nantwich Town Council tonight (April 14) and no objections were lodged.
A statement from Marston’s Property Development said: “The brief is to develop the greenfield plot and create a community style public house and associated facilities.
“The proposal in particular is to serve the adjacent retail and commercial developments, as well as wider business and residential communities of the surrounding area.
“The challenge is to provide a high quality building for use as a food led public house intended to enhance the community aspect of the area.
“The proposal aims to provide eating and drinking facilities for all age groups of the local
communities, including families with children, but it is not intended to operate the premises as a ‘family fun pub’.”
The plans are due to be decided by planning authority Cheshire East Council by May 5.

What a bloody stupid idea. The town needs a pub there in the same way it needs a nuclear waste dump on the Baroney. We have plenty of family food pubs with play areas within driving distance (which this I’d intended to be). We don’t need another. Where were Marston’s when the good local in town pubs were closing?
