A first quarter finance review of Cheshire East Council spend shows it is facing massive deficits in 2022-23 of up to £12 million.

The review, published this week, forecasts a reduction in the council’s coffers of £11.7m – with the largest rise in expenditure in the council’s adults and children’s services.

Relatives of a former Nantwich soldier have come forward to say his name has also been misspelt on the Nantwich War Memorial.

Shavington councillor issues stark warning over new code of conduct

Cheshire East Council could prevent councillors from working in the best interests of residents if it passes the new revised members code of conduct as it stands, a Shavington councillor believes.

Cllr David Marren (Ind) told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the rule of “not bringing the council into disrepute” could be interpreted as preventing councillors from criticising the authority because criticism may damage the council’s reputation.
