Planners have approved a bid to turn the former Redsands children’s centre in Nantwich, into a specialised 71-bedroom dementia care village.
The buildings, in Willaston, will now have a new lease of life as a specialised centre of excellence in dementia care, with landscaped gardens and residential units.
Schools in and around Nantwich will benefit from an extra £1 million buildings grant awarded to Cheshire East Council.
Nineteen schools and children centres have been successful in securing extra funding, including Millfields Primary, Audlem St James, Malbank High and Nantwich and Rural Children’s Centre.
A new mobile children’s centre soon to be unveiled in Nantwich and nearby villages, has been welcomed by town councillors.
The Cheshire East Council service is embarking on a tour of the area, with the aim of gathering views from the public on the facility.

Campaigners calling for Cheshire East Council to reconsider a decision to close Nantwich Children’s Centre, gathered outside the centre to protest today.
Local mums, children and town councillors met outside the popular centre on Dog Lane to voice their campaign ahead of a council Children and Families Scrutiny meeting on Monday.
Nantwich Town councillors have voted to support Nantwich and Rural Children’s Centre, which is threatened with closure by Cheshire East.
The centre, on Dog Lane, provides services to hundreds of families and their young children every week.
