Solar farm could supply new Leighton Hospital’s energy

Cheshire East Council’s solar farm at Crewe may be able to supply energy to the rebuilt Leighton Hospital in the future, a councillor has said.

The 4.1mw farm was built to provide the majority of the electricity required by the council’s compost plant at Leighton, which is operated by a contractor Biowise.

I was contacted last night by my energy supplier to inform me the EBSS (energy support scheme) was ending on 31st March.

Based on the last twelve months they estimate, based on usage, my Electricity Costs from April 2023 to March 2024 would reduce by £21-14 and Gas would increase by £2-27.

On the BBC text site overnight, it was reported that Electricity cost 4p per unit more in North Wales, Cheshire and parts of Merseyside (the old MANWEB area).

In our area we pay 36p per unit, with 34p being an average and 32p in the lowest parts of the Country.
